Samvahan Sound Healing

"The body is nothing but rhythm. The universe is nothing but rhythm. The job of a healer is to harmonize your rhythms with the rhythm of the universe." -Dr. Ram K. Bhosle, developer of Samvahan Sound Healing

Based in Ayurvedic philosophy, Samvahan is a potent healing therapy from India, dating back five thousand years. Samvahan is Sanskrit for "reawakening even dead tissue".

Our bodies are designed to work with flexibility and ease. But bad posture, stress, hectic lifestyles, etc. can trigger painful physical reactions like muscle strains, upset stomach, migraines, joint injuries and back pain.

My Ayurvedic teacher, Michael Trembath of Sydney, Australia, says: "All people are unique in how they create and hold vibrations. Each organ, tissue and cell in our bodies is like an instrument in an orchestra. Just as there are different frequencies, overtones, and peculiarities unique to each instrument, the same applies to the body. Every instrument has to be tuned for optimal performance and to suit the entire orchestra’s harmony. The therapist works as instrument technician and music conductor to help the client (the maestro) to create the best possible balance, vibrancy and long term vitality."

As a certified Samvahan practitioner, I apply a fine healing vibration with my hands, helping the healthy, positive vibrations in my client to entrain, strengthen and deepen. Samvahan sessions are generally given over clothes. Overtoning, Tibetan singing bowls and tuning forks may also be used in a session.

Samvahan sessions are great for relieving stress, chronic headaches, insomnia, menstrual complaints, digestive disorders and joint or muscle pain.

Samvahan Testimonials

"I regularly take a modern dance class and usually end up with some muscular and joint pains. I've found that with the samvahan, areas of soreness or tightness tend to loosen up and feel lighter. For instance, I have gone to my dance class the day after a session and found that I can stretch my hamstrings out with less pain and more flexibility." - Holly, Cambridge, MA

"I think of samvahan as a type of music in which my body is the flute and my therapist coaxes out sounds that have never existed before. When I finish a samvahan massage session, I sometimes feel exhausted, but when I walk out onto the street, I am so much more aware of the environment around me. For me at least, it makes the mind-body connection better than any other type of therapy that I have experienced." - June, Cambridge, MA
